Halle Berry Joining Keanu Reeves in 'John Wick 3'

The third installment of the action series hits theaters May 2019.

Halle Berry is joining the cast ofJohn Wick alongside star Keanu Reeves for the third installment of Liongate's action series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Berry shared the news in an Instagram post on Monday. It includes a note from the Continental Hotel, favored by the series' assassins, reading, “See you in a year, Mr. Wick."

Berry added the caption "It's a date. 5.17.19,” which is the film’s release.

Details about Berry’s character are still under wraps, but according to THR she won’t be a villain. Considering her stay at the Continental, there’s a good chance she’ll star as another assassin. Berry did reveal her character's name is Sophie.

Director Chad Stahelski is returning to helm Chapter 3, which picks up where the second left off. John Wick, a former assassin played by Reeves, has a $14 million bounty on his head and an army of hitmen and -women on his trail. "We want not so much to go bigger on the third one, but to show you more of the intricacies of the world," Stahelski told Collider last year. "I feel like there are all these different subtleties that I skipped over in No. 2, that I’d like to go back to on and show you the inner workings of different parts of New York. So rather than massive set pieces, I’d like to show you cooler and more intricate ones."

Back in January, it was announced that Starz and Lionsgate will bring the John Wick franchise to TV.
