After being ordered to take time off from her talk show by her doctor, Wendy Williams announced that actor and personal friend Jerry O'Connell would fill in as guest host until she gets back, according to Deadline. On February 21, Williams announced that she was taking three weeks off of work on The Wendy Williams Show to treat her hyperthyroidism and Graves’ disease. O'Connell will be the first guest host in the nine years the show has been on the air. “Jerry has been such a good friend to me and to the show,” Williams said. “We’re happy to welcome him as a guest host while I’m out getting much-needed rest. Can’t wait to get back in my purple chair!”

Williams has already been away from her show for a week so far, and another week of re-runs will follow with O'Connell stepping in during the week leading up to Williams' return, set for March 19th. O'Connell seems ready about the guest hosting gig saying he was "excited to help out and fill in," and added that "nobody can fill the purple chair like Wendy, but I am honored to sit with her co-hosts and to bring the many fans all the Hot Topics they love." Williams' may rack up millions of viewers weekly, but she's taking her health seriously this time around.
