One Arizona teen got a very harsh wakeup call to celebrate the day that Christ is said to have risen. According to Phoenix police, his mom woke him up for Easter Sunday service with a taser to the leg. 40-year-old Sharron Dobbins has been arrested.
“I said, ‘Get up! It’s Jesus’ Day’” Dobbins told a local news station, KNXV. While the woman admits that she was holding the stun gun she only used it to warn her 16-year-old, Dobbins says, “I made the noise with the Taser, but I did not tase my son.”
Meanwhile, police did indeed discover two marks on her son’s leg. They arrested his mom, who spent 12 hours of her Easter Sunday in jail. She was charged with one count of child abuse and intent to cause harm. And here’s where things take a very meme-able turn. Dobbins told the local news that when her son threatened to call the cops, she told him, “You can call the police, UPS, DPS, whoever you want to call.” According to Dobbins, when police were on the phone, she told the dispatcher, “You need to be with Jesus right now.”
Dobbins expressed little regret for her actions, telling the news station, “I don’t think anything I did anything wrong because you’re supposed to put God first and that’s all I was trying to do is tell my kids to put God first.” While I realize it's not in the Ten Commandments, "Thou shall not tase thy kids" seems pretty Christian to me.
