Donald Trump is opening 2018 with another nuclear threat against North Korea. To bring in the new year, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un announced that his country would defy U.N. sanctions and would be “mass producing” nuclear warheads. He also added that he even had a nuclear button on his desk.

Instead of trying to assuage nuclear tensions, Donald Trump tweeted that he, too, has a nuclear button on his desk. Furthermore, his is "a much bigger & more powerful one."

The prideful mass-murder boast is the latest in a series of taunts Trump has launched at the North Korean leader, who's spent 2017 pushing missile tests. Last year, the president referred to Jong Un as "Rocket Man" and hypothetically called him "short and fat." The latter came after Jong Un said he "will surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged US dotard with fire" during an angry address delivered last September.

As justifiably alarming as a nuclear war is, North Korea is just another belligerent in a line of enemies for Trump. Recently, he's raged war against reason, tweeting that he'd like more of that global warming he doesn't believe in after hearing New Year's Eve temperatures would hit record lows. There's also his ongoing battle with the media. Just minutes after the aforementioned tweet, Trump said that he'll "be announcing THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR on Monday at 5:00 o’clock." All in all, there have been better ways to start a year.
