Police have responded to reports of an "emotionally disturbed" man on the ledge of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in New York City. New York Police Department and Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority Police officials are currently on the scene, SILivereported.
For some reason, at least one local station recklessly decided to stream the incident live on Facebook, sparking debate about the dubious ethics behind such a decision:
The man—wearing a white t-shirt and a backpack—was described by a witness as "a little emotional, he looked stressed out." According to unconfirmed emergency radio communications cited by SILive, the unidentified man exited a vehicle and walked to the ledge on the lower level, Staten Island-bound area of the bridge during Wednesday morning rush hour. The lower level is now closed.
