3 free apps that will help you save a ton of cash

Log off of Instagram and download some apps that will help you get some bands.

Sometimes it's like you can do almost anything through the different apps available on your smartphone, like testing for STDs, maintaining sobriety or even determine the origins of a gunshot. So why not download something sensible like, I don't know, apps that help you save and spend better? Here are three, free .99 suggestions we've put together for you:

1. Mint

This free app helps you spend less and save more by combining all of your accounts and investments for you to track and budget your finances in one place. From transportation to rent, this app keeps track of all of your spending and sends you alerts when you have gone over budget. It's practical and extremely easy to navigate. For iPhone users, you can keep tabs of your credit score.

2. Expensify

Expensify is a great app for those constantly on the move who need to track their spending. It's simple: you snap a photo of your receipt with your smartphone, it configures the data it needs from the receipt (opposed to obtaining values manually) and records it into a database organized by the type of expense that was used. There is also the option of keeping track of your expenses through card usage if you're not great with holding onto your receipts. This app is clutch for professionals who travel a lot and is available for both iPhone and Android.

3. Acorn

This app is great for helping you track your spending while literally finding ways to help you save. Once you've connected all of your financial accounts onto the app, it rounds up all of your spending (for instance an expense of $9.53) to the next dollar ($10.00), investing any remaining cents ($0.47) in low-cost ETFs for every purchase made. On average users invest roughly $30 to $180 each month with this app, and have the option of going as high as $30,000. This app is available for iPhone and Android as well.

You have no more excuses now, reader. Happy saving!
