Robert Bowling Starts his own Development Studio, "Robotoki"

Robert Bowling, the man who used to be the public face of the Call of Duty franchise, has revealed that he's starting "Robotoki", his own game development studio.

Speaking with Game Informer Bowling explained that he decided to start his own studio directly after announcing his departure from Infinity Ward. As Infinity Ward's creative strategist, Bowling was the tip of the sword in Activsion's PR and marketing effort for the CoD franchise.

Bowling's goal, it seems, is to make a creativity-driven studio: “I wanted to create an environment where the creative vision holders held complete control over their work and could guide and maintain it from concept to execution," he said. “Robotoki is focused on being a developer development studio that just happens to make games.”

How will Robotoki maintain that emphasis on fostering talent and creativity? Bowling says that, for the moment, the studio is completely self-funded, and will only work with partners who won't get in the way of the team's creativity.

"I wanted to create an environment where the creative vision holders held complete control over their work and could guide and maintain it from concept to execution."

Don't expect to hear about Robotoki's first game right away: Bowling said the studio's first project will be released on next-gen platforms, PC, and mobile platforms. Bowling said that, though he's looking to develop projects across all platforms, that the games Robotoki develops will be tailored to the platform they're being played on.

The Robotoki website is already live, so you can go check it out. The studio is currently hiring for its first mystery project.
