Where would we be without pinball? From its inception in the 1930s to its decline toward the end of the century, it's been an important part of culture, for everyone from greasers in malt shops to nerds in arcades. Something about the feel of the spring-loaded plunger in our sweaty palms and the sounds of the table's guts—so important that they were artificially recreated once solid state electronics made the games much quieter—just gets our blood hot.

There are hundreds of pinball machines. They range from rare to common, big to small, innovative to derivative—you name it. These are simply some of our favorites.

What about the Pacman pinball game with a playable packman game on the board? Black Knight - one of the first 2 level pinball games?

What about Star Trek TNG Pinball ? That's an awesome game (and not just for star trek fans :) - http://www.libertygames.co.uk/store/pinball_machines/reconditioned_pinball_machines/star-trek-the-next-generation-pinball/ Although the music on Black Knight 2000 is still rattling around in my brain!

I don't know who did your research but they aren't a pinhead. 2 of those top 10 sit in my living room, Adams and Revenge and are some of the best.. Some of those other games like Tommy, Tales from the Crypt, & Batman Forever (the new Batman pinball is 10x better).. I'm at a loss for words no those 3 games. Talking about good IP, how about Scared Stiff, Star Trek, and Lord of the Rings instead. Best game no on this list... Mideival Madness. Don't believe me, check the ratings list. http://www.ipdb.org/lists.cgi?anonymously=true&list=top300 I love to see pinball on the site though! Check out papa.org, go to their tournaments to see some real pin.

When thinking of Pinball, all I can think about is Pinbot. Also, the Pac Man playable game/pinball, I thought was a great idea that just never got off the ground.

An article about pinball machines written by someone who doesn't play pinball. Very unenlightening.

No mention of Street Fighter? That was right up there w/ Addams Family in the 90's/2000's

I use to beat Black Knight 2000 (not listed) on a regular basis. But my favorite machine of all time was called "Fire" and had a nice set up on the rails. Further the owner had the tilt practically turned off so you could shake the machine quite a bit to keep the ball in play. Great time. Can still play a mean game of pinball when I see one.
