Intro

Gaming and drinking. They seem to go hand in hand, don’t they? Especially if you’re the type of person who just finished finals and wants to end the semester the right way. Invite 20 of your friends (plus the people who owe you $20 cause you wrote their final papers for ‘em), break out the booze, hook up the consoles, and prepare to get plastered!

The crew here at Complex enjoys a fun evening of alcoholic beverages and our favorite video games. But there are a select few number of games that enhance our “liquid courage” and bring on the memories. We tend to forget those memories in the morning, but we never forget the top 10 games to play while wasted. Your Friday night dorm room game playlist starts now. LET’S GET WEIRD!

The Drinking Game

The Drinking Game

Never heard of this indie gem? For shame! This Xbox 360 indie game is the perfect excuse to dust off those shot glasses and pour up some drank.

Everything starts off sober enough when the person with the controller presses A and gets the virtual slot machine going. Whatever that machine commands us to do, we proceed to do without a single fear.

One player drinks? No biggie. What if you get a “wench” plus two beer mugs? The fun really starts…

Tony Hawk Ride

Tony Hawk Ride

Yeah, this game is straight buns. There’s nothing endearing about it whatsoever…that is until you call your alcohol abusing friend over for some funny time.

Lay out some cold one’s on the table, introduce him/her to the skateboard peripheral and sit back. Your free entertainment is now live. Watch as your buddy tries to land kickflip’s in your living room with the grace of two moose’s mating.

It’s a shame that this game is only enjoyable when we’re drunk, but we had to justify purchasing this thing somehow.

Split/Second

Split/Second

Yes to drinking, no to driving afterwards. But who says we can’t get behind the wheel of our virtual rides?

Things get even more hectic when you combine that racing with tons of Michael Bay-worthy explosions. This game is perfect for drunks who like a little excitement with their Jager Bombs.

Place the controller in you and your buddy’s hand and try not to get super hyped when a cruise ship comes flying at you. Beer, cars and things blowing up are all awesome together.

The expressions on everyone’s face will proclaim a single word after the race is over: Whoa…

Wii Sports

Wii Sports

Aw, Nintendo. The squeaky-clean image of the house that Mario built got sullied when drunks everywhere got their hands on a Wiimote.

Soccer moms and pre-teens aren’t the only ones who love bowling in their living room. Motion controlled games are a blessing to us gamers who take a swig after every successful (or non-successful) playthrough. Virtual tennis, basketball and baseball with a bunch of people who took one too many Vodka’s to the head is true gaming bliss.

The drunken laughter that ensues from watching Mii’s do their victory jig is also priceless…

Ready to Rumble Boxing

Ready to Rumble Boxing

Ok, so you’ve drunk way past your limit and you wanna put someone on their ass. Fine. Why go the illegal route and whup somebody’ ass in real life? Wouldn’t it be better and more cost-effective to just whup somebody’s ass…with a video game controller? Yeah, now you’re gettin’ it.

Still got your Dreamcast? Good. Go find Ready to Rumble Boxing. Pick anyone you please. Hit the bright buttons and get your drunken frustrations out. See? How easy was that?

Don’t try those moves at a bar, tough. Bouncers are tougher than Afro Thunder, dude.

Madden NFL

Madden NFL

So this one’s pretty much a no-brainer, right? The battle on the gridiron for football supremacy screams “WE WANT BEER!”

Call the boys over on a Sunday and watch a good ol’ game of football. When the game ends, start another one up. Madden NFL always does the trick. Keep the liquor flowing and watch as grown men bitch over who gets to play with the Dallas Cowboys.

Once the beer cans go flying across the room and screams of joy erupt after a touchdown, the good times start rollin’.

Super Smash Bros.

Super Smash Bros.

We believe the developers behind Super Smash Bros. had to be under the influence of something to come up with such a crazy concept. Mario vs. Link? Samus vs. Kirby? Bowser vs. Yoshi?

Nintendo’s finest beating each other into a cartoony pulp sounds like some awesome anime fan fiction. But thank the gaming god’s beaucse it’s an actual video game we can play!

Drunk-tip: turn on Pokeballs and Assist Trophies. Watch as all four players try to KO each other with nothing but rabid pocket monsters and other Nintendo characters. Uber…fun.

Mario Kart

Mario Kart

Man, Nintendo brings all the fun! Next on our list is the kart racer to end all kart racers.

Mario Kart is the ultimate party game by itself when everyone has their act together. Add a few dozen drinks to the festivities send the kids to bed and take over the controllers. Yeah, shit just got real.

Whoever’s the drunk gets to pick Toad (there’re gonna need a speed advantage cause they’re gonna be the shits in every other department.) Flinging green shells and dropping banana peels can be so much more fun with booze, don’t ya think?

Rock Band

Rock Band

Plastic instruments. Tons of hit songs. It’s pretty much your local karaoke bar. Except this time, you don’t have to open a beer tab, plus you get to pick a song everyone wants to hear.

Join up with your hardcore Ozzy Osbourne fans and get the “Crazy Train” thang up and runnin’! Got some lady friends over? Hand em’ the mic and watch as they butcher “Barracuda.”

After the night is over, the image of Heineken bottles next to a destroyed plastic drum set is unforgettable.

Dance Central

Dance Central

Many thanks to the geniuses at Harmonix for giving us beer guzzlers the perfect video game. Dance Central lets us act out our inner Usher and J. Lo dance routines with the aid of our trusty Kinect.

Everyone goes stupid and whips their hard back and forth when they’re playing this thing perfectly sober. But when everybody’s got some liquor in their system, this game’s fun factor gets turned up to a trillion.

You know the game didn’t tell you to do a split…BUT DAMN THAT, GO AHEAD AND DO IT ANWAY! *hiccup*
