Most of us have owned an Etch-A-Sketch at one point in our lives, but we probably have not achieved much artistic progress on the device. Since the Ohio Art Company released the first versions of the Etch-A-Sketch in 1960, many children and grownups have accepted the challenge to draw a masterpiece using two knobs that only create horizontal or vertical lines.
As we shook away our mistakes, the toy may have even caused some frustration, but some have mastered the art of the Etch-A-Sketch. Today, there are well-establihed artists who specialize in Etch-A-Sketch drawing, creating images from elaborate sketches to remakes of famous paintings. One of the original pioneers of the artform, Jeff Gagliardi, has over 35 years of experiece and is known for his works based Van Gogh, Dalí, and Picasso. Artist George Vlosich III spends anywhere from 70 to 80 hours completing a single piece.
