The No Fun League has struck again.
Over the course of the last few seasons, dunking the football over the goal post after scoring a touchdown has become the go-to move for a lot of NFL players. The TD celebration dates back to former Cowboys wide receiver Alvin Harper's days in the NFL and was popularized in more recent years by Chiefs/Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez. But earlier today, NFL head of officials Dean Blandino did an interview on The Dan Patrick Show and revealed that, starting next season, any player who goes up for a dunk after scoring a TD will be penalized. And by putting that penalty into place, the NFL has essentially outlawed dunking after touchdowns from professional football.
Hopefully, one or two guys will rebel against the new rule and dunk the ball anyway. But if we never see another slam dunk over a goal post again, at least we'll always have this GIF gallery to remember how great the classic touchdown celebration was. R.I.P. goal post dunks!

Going for Two
To be fair, we could see why the NFL might not want players like Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith hanging on the goal posts. But still, how awesome was this?
Rejected!
Even when the post-TD dunk goes all kinds of wrong like it did here for 49ers tight end Vernon Davis, it's still better than nothing.
He's Still Got It
Don't tell Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez that he's too old to dunk.
Finish Strong
Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson knows what to do once he gets into the end zone.
Good Try, Good Effort
This dunk by Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith wasn't perfect. But he did pick off Peyton Manning and return it for a TD, so give him some credit.
Oh, Baby!
Chargers wide receiver Danario Alexander deserves 10s across the board for putting a little extra oomph into his windmill dunk.
One More Time!
We'll miss seeing Jimmy Graham do this. What's he going to do now?
