NFL players have long been amongst of the most serious sneaker collectors in the game with many frequently making headlines for their kicks.

In the past few weeks, Victor Cruz made noise when images of his upcoming Nike Air Cruz Trainer started hitting the net, the Vikings' Antone Exum shared that he still hunts for kicks on eBay, and the Browns' Joe Haden gave the world a glimpse of his incredible collection. Now, another NFL sneakerhead is in the news, but for a completely different reason.

Detroit Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy no longer wants to be a sneakerhead. And while that really isn't news in itself, what he's doing with his collection is certainly headline worthy. DeAndre Levy is selling his collection and donating all the proceeds to charity. In an interview with AOL, Levy shares why he's quitting the game. Among the reasons, the 28-year-old states that he "was placing too much value on things that didn't matter," and expressed guilt when he saw all the people in need in Detroit. The pair Levy did say would be the hardest to part with was his Vegas Sole Collector Dunk, which he said he spent most of his Pell Grant in acquiring it.
