10 Awesome Builds From Icon 4x4

Icon is, without a doubt, on our short list of people, companies, and organizations that we would be buying a car from were we to suddenly come into a ton of money (the stupid Powerball pool didn't pay off). The company is known for taking older vehicles and updating them in a way that doesn't ruin the original intent of feeling of the truck, but does come across as very modern. It's a unique sense of style, and one that we love.

This custom colored Land Cruiser doesn't just turn heads, it was also gutted and had a modern powertrain dropped in. Classic style with today's performance.

One would think there wouldn't be too much to do to a brand new, six-figure Mercedes, until one saw Icon's take on the 2012 G55 AMG. All of the exterior trim was redesigned, and PVD coated, while custom lighting, audio, and interior trim were installed. I think that we can all agree that the star of this show is the matte-grey paint in the perfect shade; it's dark and menacing, but not so dark as to lose contrast with all that custom trim.

This old school Land Cruiser was stripped down to make it into the perfect retro-modern vehicle for tackling the Australian outback, or somewhere similarly cool. It's powered by a 350horse fuel injected V8, and is rocking completely custom colors and upholstry.

This is one of Icon's Derelict cars, which are built and finished to look like neglected old beaters on the outside, but are in perfect running order. This particular Chevy coupe has a wild-caught alligator and buffalo hide interior and a 440hp LS3 engine. We're willing to bet the owner surprises a lot of people at the stop-lights in this thing.

The Dodge M37 was used extensively in the Korean war, and was loved by those who drove it. These days, it still looks cool, but can't match the performance of a modern truck by a mile. This particular M37 might look like an old mil-surp piece, but there's a modern turbo-diesel in the engine bay and up to date performance suspension on the new axles.

The words "Baja edition" make just about everything better. When applied to a race-prepped vintage Toyota Land Cruiser it's even better.

This 1965 body houses sits atop a 2007 Dodge 3500 Megacab's chassis and is powered by a Gale Banks prepped turbo-diesel that puts out an astounding 975 ft-lbs of torque. That's almost enough to tow Manhattan, or so it would seem. The interior, designed with Parabellum, is quilted bison leather, because 'merica.

This Willys Jeepster has been restored to its stock condition, complete with period pale yellow paint, but, like many Icon projects, now sits atop a brand new chassis and mechanical systems.

This is one of Icon's "standard" models. Rather than being a one-off made to spec for a specific buyer, the CJ3B is a perfected formula that can, of course, be modified to suit. If we were going to own a flat-fender Willys, it would certainly be this one.

The Ford Bronco is one of the most beloved SUVs and off-roaders ever made, which makes it the perfect candidate for the Icon treatment. Made with Fox racing shocks, a 414hp 5.0L Ford Coyote V8, and a bevy of other modern mechanical improvements, the Icon BR is most certainly a dream truck.
