Will Ferrell opened Saturday Night Live with everyone's favorite George W. Bush impression.

Ferrell made sure to remind us that Bush may be "popular AF" compared to our current president, but he really wasn't that great either. "According to a new poll my approval rating is at an all-time high," Ferrell as Bush says in the cold open. "Donny Q. Trump came in and suddenly I'm looking pretty sweet by comparison... I just wanted to address my fellow Americans tonight and remind you guys that I was really bad. Like, historically not good." You know, there was the stock market crash, the fact that we're still in two different wars he started, and what has two thumbs and created ISIS? That guy. Oh yeah, and Dick Cheney shot a guy in the face. Remember that? Mike Pence may seem heartless, but Cheney literally does not have a heart. "At this point, it’s just Legos in there.”

Ferrell went on to remind Trump that the media hated Bush even more. He cited the time an Iraqi reporter actually threw a shoe at him. In between working on oil paintings of dogs and earning an online M.F.A. from the University of Phoenix, the 43rd president has apparently done some thinking. Despite them having a few things in common, like age and a victory in the presidential election despite losing the popular vote, Ferrell says he's “not a Trump synthesizer or anything.” Leslie Jones, a Ferrell fan herself, chimed in as Condoleezza Rice, just adding to the hilarity of this comedic gold.
