Trying to turn hit movies into TV shows is nothing new. You want buddy cop action? There's a Lethal Weapon TV show on the air right now. You want slasher gore? There has been talk of turning Friday the 13th into a series. Need a show about a guy who really can't keep track of his daughter? A Taken series is in the works.

Still, there's something surprising about hearing that the cult classic Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is being developed into a TV show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 2004 romantic dramedy starring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet as a broken-up couple who decide to undergo a procedure to erase the memories of their relationship still has a long way to go before making it to TV. It's reportedly in the early stages, but it's a good sign that Steve Golin, who produced the original film, is involved.

A lot of people who really love this movie will probably feel a little weird about seeing it turned into a TV show. But remember, these things don't always turn out bad. FX's Fargo, which takes place in the same world as the 1996 crime movie Fargo, is proof that sometimes they're really good

Interestingly, this isn't even the first Jim Carrey movie to be eyed as a possible television series. In 2014, there was talk of Paramount developing a series based on The Truman Show, but such a show has yet to materialize.
