'Daily Show' Host Trevor Noah Thinks Donald Trump Would Make a Great African President

He compares Trump to Idi Amin, Muammar al-Gaddafi, and Yahya Jammeh.

There's something about Donald Trump's presidential campaign that makes The Daily Show host Trevor Noah feel right at home. Noah, who is from South Africa, speculated that although Trump might be too extreme to seem "presidential" to Americans, there's no reason his policies wouldn't fly in another country—he'd fit right in in Africa, for example.

Noah compares Trump's comments about Mexican immigrants to South African President Jacob Zuma's "light xenophobia with just a dash of diplomacy." He goes on to compare Trump's scientifically incorrect views that vaccines cause autism to Gambian President Yahya Jammeh's triumphant declaration that he can cure AIDS with herbs and bananas. Finally, Noah plays side-by-side clips of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin boasting about the people's love for him and Donald Trump bragging about his adoring supporters, and he throws in a few scary-accurate comparisons to Muammar al-Gaddafi and Zimbabwean President Robert Mugame for good measure.

Of course many of these African presidents were oppressive dictators, but that governing style seems to fit Trump's personality—he even pulls of al-Gaddafi's white ribbon-bedecked military suit, wraparound shades, and matching Navy-style hat. "What I'm trying to say," Noah clarified, "is that Donald Trump is presidential, he just happens to be running on the wrong continent." Maybe Trump will take the hint.
