A teacher at a Catholic high school in Minnesota lost her job this week following her arrest for having sex with a 17-year-old student whose child she might be carrying.

The Star Tribune reports that Mary Gilles, 28, was terminated from her position at Austin, Minn.'s Pacelli High School on Tuesday for carrying out a sexual relationship with the student which began in February and resumed last month. Gilles, who was arrested on Monday, told authorities that she was aware of the boy's age.

Furthermore, Laura Marreel, a school administrator, told authorities that Gilles and the student were seen inside of the school auditorium "at a late hour" by a staff member this past Friday. This compelled Marreel to access the teen's personal email account, discovering messages which referenced their sexual relationship and hinted at the possibility that Gilles was pregnant.

Gilles has been charged with six counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
