In a show of (somewhat wrinkly) muscle, the cast of The Expendables 3 made what will probably be one of the more memorable entrances at the Cannes film festival this year by parading in on top of several tanks and getting a huge reaction from the crowd on Sunday.

The cast, which must have a combined cinematic body count in the millions at this point, includes Sylvester Stallon, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Jason Statham, Antonio Banderas, Wesley Snipes, Dolph Lundgren, Kelsey Grammer, Randy Couture, Glen Powell and Victor Ortiz.

Once they'd made their entrance, they talked about the upcoming third installment of the action franchise, which has already grossed more than half a billion with its first two films.

Considering how many of those guys are 60-plus, the questions quickly turned toward retirement from action flicks.

“We are children with arthritis, we are young forever,” Stallone told the crowd, adding “I think if you wake up in the morning and your ass falls off, it’s time to retire.”

As for the next film being the first in the series to be rated PG-13 (both others were rated R), Stallone had a very business-minded explanation.

“We want to reach as many people as possible. It’s very close to an R, believe me, it’s right there. But I think we owe it to the next generation. We thought we’d join that club for a while,” he said.

The film is set for a August release.
