For years, celebrities have been able to keep a safe distance from the everyday people. That is, until they started fucking with Twitter. By using the social networking site, the stars have opened themselves up to the public, exposing their quirks and everyday thoughts to countless followers. While some have been fine with this extreme exposure of their private lives, others have found it a little too much to handle, resulting in them getting rid of their account. The latest example: Nicki Minaj, who deleted her account earlier this week when she accused one of her fan sites leaking unreleased music. With that in mind, we compiled a Brief History of Celebrities Deleting Their Twitter Accounts. And we're not taking it back!

Kanye West

Date: 5/12/2009
Twitter Handle: @kanyewest
Why It Was Deleted: Twitter deleted the allegedly fake account after Kanye angrily denounced its authenticity on his blog. He created his first (official) Twitter account a year later.
Complex says: We're that now, instead of deleting his account, Kanye just takes random sabbaticals after dropping intense random rants.

Twitter Handle: @jr_swish
Why It Was Deleted: J.R. Smith deleted his Twitter account after being suspected of gang affiliation for a tweet in which he replaced his "c"s with "k"s, a typical practice of Bloods.

Date: 9/29/2009
Twitter Handle: @JadeEwen
Why It Was Deleted: The lead singer of the British girl group the Sugarbabes was ran off Twitter by fans of ex-member Keisha Buchanan, the girl that Jade replaced.

Twitter Handle: @chicky
Why It Was Deleted: Bynes either got tired of talking way too much about her personal life, or she planned this as a some sort of publicity stunt similar to her announcing her retirement from acting then returning a month later. Or, as we've seen from her recent Twitter escapades, she's just down right nuts.
Complex says: We're still wondering about her "I love black men" tweet. While many have speculated that it was about Cudi, how crazy would it be if Kenan and Kel hit it? Though we're sure they would've said something by now if the sex was allllllllll that. Okay, we're done.
