Throughout the history of film, few creators have been as successful and influential as George Lucas. After writing and directing cult classics like American Graffiti and THX-1138, Lucas went on to create a space opera that ran way over budget and over schedule. The studio had no faith in it, but Lucas did. That movie, of course, went on to become Star Wars, the genesis of one of Hollywood's most successful film franchises.
From the mid 1970s through the mid '80s, Lucas changed the way audiences viewed movies by giving them a scope and depth that had never been thought possible. And after creating the Indiana Jones series, it seemed like nothing could stop him. But the subsequent decades were not so kind to the flannel-clad god of the geek world. After re-releasing the digitally enhanced Star Wars trilogy, and writing and directing the much maligned prequel trilogy, Lucas had seemingly lost the magic touch he once had.
And now, in what could be his last major blockbuster, Lucas has produced the historical action movie, Red Tails (in theaters tomorrow). We’re not sure how the movie will play out, but we’re certain it won’t erase the past few years of Lucas’ bad decisions. But whether you love him or hate him (and deep down you know you all love him), there's no arguing the man's place in pop-culture lore. So take the gloves off as we look back at George Lucas’ 10 Most Obnoxious Moments, because focusing on the positives wouldn't be nearly as much fun.

Pot calling the kettle? Are you guys dumb? He created and wrote and made star wars so erm.....he isnt just a copyright holder is he, he can do whatever the fuck he wants with his things. Rubbish journalism in effect here.

I don't really get why you guys are making fun of him doing the prequels then making fun of the fact that he won't make anymore movies due to angry fans. Listen, I like Complex and all. And yes, sometimes Lucas doesn't make the best decisions, but I don't understand why you guys are insulting him by both making the prequels and then getting angry when he says he doesn't want to make anymore movies because fans are peeved at him. Seems backwards if you ask me.

George really has no one to blame for the derision he enjoys for the flaws of the prequels, mostly because he siezed almost total control of their creation process. As to the frustration that most of the fans have for the series, it mostly revolves around how george refuses to understand why people prefer his older movies; special effects were used as a method of enhancing he story. In the PT and indiana jones 4 it seemed more like a story was created in order to faciliate somesort of cohesion for a series of tech demos.

I disagree...with your point of view. IF YOU REMEMBER ANAKIN WAS EMO!!!!!!!!! Hayden Christensen was a YOUNG confused Jedi mixed with Good and impatience traits, so of course I think "NOooooo" is a perfect fit. If you recall AFTER that "NOOOO", he uses the force to start smashing things all around him. He embraced the entire power of the force due to this pain and for 20 plus years after the NOOOOO he held on to that hate. STAR WARS A NEW HOPE is 20 PLUS years later from Revenge Of the Sith. Vader has ruled the galaxy for that long. So of course he is a grown man full of hate and machine. You have to think Timeline. What would YOU do at 20 or 40. Im sure you would handle things differently at both ages.

I disagree with your point about Hayden Christiensen. He and all the other actors were just working with what they had been given. Ewan McGregor and Natalie Portman are both very skilled at their craft, and their performances were just as bad as Christensen's. Unfortunately for these actors, they had to work with what they were given, and they were given a crappy script, some green screens, and an awful director. No actor can be expected to do well under those circumstances.

The difference between Lucas' speech to congress and his changes to Star Wars is that he is the author of those films, he can do whatever he wants. His speech was about people who had nothing to do with the authorship of a film changing them for personal gain.

Holy crap, is he wearing a "Han Shot First" t-shirt in that Kingdom of the Crystal Skull picture? That right there is an obnoxious moment in and of itself. The only reason that shirt exists is because George decided it would be "better" for Greedo to shoot first and "fixed" it. Ugh.

My God, George Lucas just created five accounts on this website by the look of the above comments. Let's face it, the damage done to Return of the Jedi alone is worth the bad reputation he's gotten himself. At least he did little alteration to Empire Strikes Back, which is still a great film, but that CG band in Return of the Jedi is so horrible that I can't physically bring myself to watch it anymore. FREE THE ORIGINAL FILMS!!

Deep down I really love him??!?! NO I do not. He is NOTING BUT a greedy, obnoxious hypocritical, no talent, has been. I was a huge fan, until I made the mistake of getting to understand the business side of his "Empire", yeah I went there. Respect for this jackass has plummeted since the late 90's and for good reason. Great picture of him in a carpetbagger suit. This douche bag needs to crawl under a rock and die. I don't give a ratt's ass about what anybody says or how this movie comes out. Subject matter has been done already. Its remake in a sea of remakes from Hollywood. Its GL and therefor it sucks. He'll probably claim copyright on every P-51 Mustang model with a Red Tail on it or some thing. GL, AKA Gordon Gecko. Also just saw and ad for Star Wars Episode 1 in 3d!?!?!?!?! AYFKM!?!?!?!?
