George Carlin once aptly said: "You women be careful when you're standing in front of that Häagen-Dazs, because goddamn it, we're watching—and goddamn it, we're thinking."
We think George was onto something. Food is inherently sexy. Maybe it's the sheer number of phalically-shaped foods that sparked the sexualized connection for us, or maybe it's just because eating is an overhwelming experience of the senses that can only be found in one other place—between the sheets (or wherever you like to get down).
And, hey, we're not the only ones to take notice. Some of cinema's sexiest moments have used food as foreplay, or consuming an elaborate meal as a pre-cursor to being, ahem, consumed. Even others have fetishized food, using especially appealing cusine to get our appetites amped (and we're not talking just for the main course).
The new movie Toast, which debuted yesterday, is famous food writer Nigel Slater's testament to the seductive power of the stove. The flick, which stars Freddie Highmore as Nigel, shows how his stepmother (Helena Bonham Carter) successfully wins his father over with her baking prowess (and tantilizingly short aprons). Poor Nigel! He never stood a chance against the allure of those Lemon Merengue pies.
But Toast's most convinving argument for the sex appeal of appetitzers comes during a scene that takes the idea of "food porn" to a new, smuttier level, and shows Nigel getting naughty under the sheets, with only a cookbook and a flashlight, loudly moaning.
While food doesn't get us that hot, we do appreciate the ocassional indulgence in a little kinky food-inspired fun. Which is why we whipped up this list of The 10 Sexiest Food Scenes In Movies. So join Complex for a toast to life's most savorable, simple pleasures: Food and Sex. And stay hungry, my friends.

10. Flashdance (1983)
A taste for fine living, indeed. In this scene from Flashdance, Jennifer Beals gives a lobster the kind of T.L.C. that has us just about ready to sell our souls to be that lucky crustacean.
While a lobster isn't the most obvious phallic symbol, the degree of oral attention Beals gives the sea creature makes eroticized bananas seem oh so cliché.
We agree, Jennifer. Lobster "sucks." But if you're the one cracking open that sweet meat, there's nothing else on the menu we'd rather have. Even Harry Lao's ridiculously overplayed Italian accent can't distract us from your sexual slurping. And we have to concur: "Those eyes and that lobster's makin' me crazy!"
9. Tom Jones (1963)
Lobster is once again the kinky culprit is this classic scene, which shows Tom and his very hungry lady sitting across from one another at the table, feasting their eyes while working up their appetites.
The two devour one course after another with mounting intensity, taking out their sexual aggressions by snapping lobster claws, breaking off wishbones (ayo!), tearing into pears, shamelessly slurping oysters, and most blatantly, cleaning the meat slowly off a chicken bone.
Post-naughty-nosh-sesh, Tom and his boo make a beeline for the bedroom. Because he knows it's just like Usher said: A freak at the table and a freak in the bed. Well, close enough. All we know is that we've never been as excited for beer and wing night in our lives. Eli who? We're grilling the girl covered in BBQ sauce.
8. American Pie (1999)
Food is usually the one doing "something" to us (think: aphrodisacs) but in this inverted take, the food is the one being done.
After a sex-starved Jim is told that third base feels a lot like "warm apple pie," he comes home to the now-eroticized treat sitting on his kitchen counter. He sticks a tentative finger in, and unable to resist the freshly baked treat's temptation, proceeds to dive junk-first into his mother's warm pie. (So wrong! So very wrong!)
Humping baked goods on the kitchen counter? We'd never go there, but for the sake of our comedic enjoyment, we're glad Amercian Pie did.
7. Like Water For Chocolate (1992)
We've always known about the kinkiness of foods like oysters and chocolate, but feathered-aphrodisiacs are a first.
In the foreign flick Water for Chocolate, Tita takes her burning desire for her soldier suitor and puts it into her cooking, literally. She uses the rose petals from the bouquet he brought and some freshly-caught quail, along with some of her blood (ah, romance) and whips up a dish that works some very sexy magic.
Cooking that literally makes you tear off your clothes? Sounds like great date eats to us.
6. When Harry Met Sally (1989)
In this famously sexy scene, we get a glimpse of Meg Ryan's faux O-face against the backdrop of the equally famous Lower East Side eatery, Katz's Delicatessen.
When Billy Crystal says a women has never "faked it" with him before, Meg sets out to prove him wrong. Between bites of pastrami and rye, Meg moans, groans and oh-yeses her way over the imaginary brink —and then proceeds to dive into her coleslaw.
Our favorite part of Ryan's randy display? The fellow customer's request that follows: "I'll have what she's having." Make it two.
5. Varsity Blues (1999)
Few things on earth can strike our fancy, and our appetite, like Ali Larter wearing nothing but whip cream and a pair of cherries. This is a girl who clearly understands that the way to a man's heart (and other parts) is through his stomach.
While we fully appreciate Ali's full-body sundae, James Van Der Beek decides to pass on her sugar tits, which makes him Van-Der-Dumb in our books.
Had we been tempted by Ali's saccharine lady parts, we would have had no choice but to give in. What? We have a mean sweet tooth!
4. Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982)
In this scene from one of the greatest school movies of all-time, two inexperienced girls get their learn on. But they're not in the classroom, they're in the cafeteria.
An innocent lunch turns anything but when the girls take to their brown bags for some sexual education. Using only a carrot as a their guide, the ladies utilize the phallic vegetable in an attempt to master the craft. Not surprisingly, after their practice-sesh is complete, the cafeteria erupts into applause.
Inappropriate suggestions for vegetable-substitutes in 3, 2, 1….
3. Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning (2007)
We all scream for ice cream, especially when it's being served up by the amazing April Scott.
When April's incarnation of Daisy is tasked with distracting the police, she doesn't take up arms. Instead, she interferes using strategically misplaced whipped cream and a melting mint chocolate chip sundae. And honestly, she doesn't need much more.
After watching Ms. Scott covered in delicious dairy, even the most lactose intolerant individual will be overcome with the desire to make a Friendly's run.
2. Tampopo (1985)
If you're not in the know, Tampopo is a movie devoted to all things edible. So, while cracking open an egg might not be erotic in most books, in Tampopo, nothing could be a more ideal element for foreplay.
The egg is eroticized like never before when a white suited man woos his woman with a raw egg, passing the yolk slowly from his mouth into hers. They play pass-the-egg until the delicate yolk breaks in the woman's mouth, which takes her over the edge and leaves her with a yolk-covered chin...
Some people might find this repulsive, but those people are clearly not up on their kink-game. But if you insist on food scenes of the tamer variety, we suggest Tampopo's runner-up, which involves some shamelessly smutty oyster slurping.
1. 9 1/2 Weeks (1986)
Nine 1/2 Weeks put sexy food scenes on the map with this unforgettably enticing scene.
Mickey Rourke woos Kim Bassinger using her taste-buds only, teasing her with everything he can find in the refrigerator, from sugar-sweet maraschino cherries to tongue-scorching jalapeños. But the honey he puts on her outstretched tongue is the icing on the sexual chocolate cake, and turns their sexy game into a real deal romp on the kitchen floor.
While most of this list falls into the "don't try this at home" category, Nine 1/2 Weeks is a scene that was made once and has been recreated hundreds of times since. So if you haven't yet, get your ass into the kitchen and get your freak on.
