Earlier this week, 76ers rookie Ben Simmonsslid into Tinashe’s IG comments after she posted a seductive photo of herself sitting on a bed with the caption “where’s bae?”
Simmons saw this as invitation to do exactly what he gets paid for: shoot his shot. He commented a very matter-of-fact “Charlotte,” because the player was in Charlotte for a game against the Hornets on Tuesday. The singer seemed more than pleased with the response, shooting back a little heart eye emoji. Now we know why. The Sixers rookie and R&B star are officially a thing. To be exact, the 25-year-old told TMZ Sports that Simmons is her “little boo thang,” with a smitten grin.
It’s unclear how long the two have been dating, but last month she went on Boom 103.9 FM in Philadelphia for an interview and blushed about her favorite basketball player. During her interview she also admitted that she might be at the 76ers game courtside in Philadelphia on Valentine’s Day. Watch her talk about Simmons at the 5:50 minute mark below.
Simmons has had a solid season so far, averaging 16.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game. He’s currently in the running for Rookie of the Year alongside Utah Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell, but with or without the title, it seems like Simmons has already won his first season by snagging the gorgeous “2 On” singer.
The 76ers are currently sixth in the East and play against the Miami Heat tonight.
