The word "angst" by definition literally means "a feeling of deep anxiety or dread, typically an unfocused one about the human condition or the state of the world in general." It's a fitting moniker for the young, Vancouver-based artist whose debut EP we are premiering here today on Complex: many artists choose to work through their personal pains with their work, and through his distorted productions and emotional lyrics, Angst touches on everything from self-loathing to drug addiction on the nine-track Loser EP.

Angst was a producer first, even clocking a credit for Tommy Genesis on her track "Empty." One day, he decided to record a test to see how his voice sounded, and the rest is kind of history. “I started recording and I guess people liked it," he told blog Underground Underdogs of the switch, "so I did it more often to the point where I am now.” Loser features additional production by a number of rising producers including Gin$eng and Gosuto, who between them have worked on music for the likes of  ThouxanbanFauni, Famous Dex and UNOtheActivist.

Angst took two years to put this EP together, even scrapping a bunch of music before finally picking this collection of tracks to represent him the best. Something tells us that he probably has a lot more material in the hopper, so be sure to keep it locked to this promising young talent. You can stream Loser above or on any of your favourite streaming platforms here.
