25-year old producer, sound engineer and DJ, Daev Martian is one of the brightest lights shining out of Johannesburg. Having previously dabbled with Kaytranada-esque house music, on his twelve-track LP Frequency Manipulation he utilises some transferable production techniques and bolstering floor-friendly grooves that recall the likes of Max Graef and Henry Wu with added flecks of Dilla, Madlib and Doom.
An example of this is on new single "88", featuring Thomas Hazey and ASAP Shembe, which incorporates a mixed bag of hazy production, a funk-inspired drum patterns and an incantation-like chorus. With the album due for release on December 8, you can watch the video for "88" above.
