Lil Yachty Announces Plan to Help Pay Fans' Tuition

Lil Yachty will also help a few lucky families go back-to-school shopping.

Lil Yachty is taking a page from the Nicki Minaj book of generosity. On Monday, Yachty announced his #SailingScholars plan to help students with the burden of college tuition. The Teenage Emotions artist also revealed that he's working on a way to take a few families shopping for the forthcoming back-to-school season.

Yachty made the announcement in a pair of tweets Monday, telling fans that additional information on both initiatives will be posted on his website soon.

Yachty's announcement comes two months after a similar effort from Minaj. When a fan asked Minaj on Twitter if she wanted to pay their tuition, Minaj agreed to cover the costs. "Show me straight A's that I can verify w/ur school and I'll pay it," she said. "Who wants to join THAT contest?!?! [sic]"

Within a week, payments to qualifying students were already in progress. Minaj then announced plans for an official charity related to her student loans and tuition payments initiative.

That same month, Stormzy helped an Oxford University student raise enough money to cover tuition fees and additional costs to study at Harvard here in the States.
