In dramatic fashion, too.

It's as if Lauryn Hill finally decided to start winning this weekend. Earlier, she came out with her first new song in years, entitled "Neurotic Society (Compulsory Mix)." Today, it's being reported she finally paid off her $900,000 tax debt. She barely made it too; her sentencing date was tomorrow.

She managed to do this in less than two weeks after she was ordered to pay the fines. Perhaps the weirdest part about this, though, is that she managed to do this without any money from record sales, according to her attorney. She explicitly said in her Tumblrletter that, "It has been reported that I signed a new record deal, and that I did this to pay taxes."

Her attorney, Nathan Hochman, confirmed Hill legitimately avoided further penalty in an email obtained by Reuters.

Well, damn. Wonder what other surprises Ms. Hill has in store for 2013.
