The brief disappearance of Sean Hannity’s Twitter page set off a wave of conspiracy theories.

According to the Associated Press, the conservative TV host’s official account was deactivated for several hours early Saturday after he shared a cryptic tweet that read: “Form Submission 1649 | #Hannity.” Though his Twitter page has since been restored, many of his 2.8 million followers are convinced that the temporary disappearance was the work of the “deep state.” You know, the “deep state," also known as the supposed secret society of left-leaning figures who are on a mission to take down President Donald Trump and the conservative party. It’s a very popular conspiracy theory among and the tin hat-wearing sect. Hannity talks about it all the time; so much so that many people believe the “deep state” is now attempting to silence him.

Hannity’s Twitter was reportedly returned at around 4:45 Saturday morning. A Twitter spokesperson later confirmed that Fox News hosts’ account was “briefly compromised.”

“While we normally do not discuss individual accounts, for privacy and security reasons, we have permission from the account owner to confirm that account was briefly compromised,” the spokesperson said in a statement, according to the New York Daily News. “We are working with the owner to restore access.”

Hannity has not tweeted anything since the “Form Submission 1649” post.
