On Tuesday, Donald Trump hired a brand-new communications director, Jason Miller. Within hours of Miller, who had formerly been a top aide to Ted Cruz, taking the position, Think Progress revealed that he had a series of now-deleted tweets insulting his new boss.
The tweets are dated between March and May of this year. It is unclear whether the Trump campaign knew about them prior to Miller's hiring. They show Miller referring to Trump repeatedly as "#SleazyDonald," and called him as "the Carl Lewis of flip-flopping" for his changing positions on abortion.
Miller was hired in an effort by Trump to professionalize his campaign, according to Bloomberg. The move comes less than two weeks after Trump lost his controversial campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Miller is not the only Republican who had to get rid of anti-Trump tweets in a hurry. Earlier this month, it was discovered that the Republican National Committee's new director of Hispanic outreach, Helen Aguirre Ferré, had a dozen anti-Trump tweets that she deleted upon taking her post.
The news about Miller comes at a bad time for Trump's campaign. On Tuesday, Reuters released a devastating new poll showing that Trump supporters are far more likely to hold negative views about African Americans than voters who backed either Hillary Clinton or Trump's main Republican rivals, Ted Cruz and John Kasich. According to the poll, almost half of Trump's supporters view African Americans as more "violent" and "criminal" than whites.
