Just as quick as the Internet anointed Charles Ramsey a hero, its trying to tear him down. This is the price of sudden "fame," so to speak. Yesterday, the Smoking Gun revealed that Ramsey, now a household name for rescuing Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight, had been convicted three times for domestic abuse against his ex-wife.
The 43-year-old Ramsey and his ex-wife, Rochelle, separated after Ramsey's third conviction in 2003:
The irony of a man convicted three times for attacking his wife rescuing three women is pretty strong. Didn't Watchmen (the graphic novel, not the movie) deconstruct the hero, teaching us that they're flawed just like the rest of us? Hasn't real life taught us this? Aside from allegedly not paying his child support, Ramsey has outlived his mistakes. Ask yourself this final question: who's the bigger monster, Ramsey or Ariel Castro?
Yeah, just like we thought.
