Kanye has helped make luxury athleisure the massive category it is today. He helped popularize sweatshirts, sweatpants, hoodies, and bombers that came in loose and boxy silhouettes and a mostly neutral color palette—remember when people said it looked like clothes for the homeless? For his most recent Yeezy 2020 collection that he showed in Paris, we start to see him expanding his design language by playing with textiles, colors, and cocoon-like shapes and it seems like he worked closely with young designer Dingyun Zhang on the cropped puffer jackets. Gap is know for classic American staples and we would love to see Kanye’s take on items he doesn’t usually present with his Yeezy line, like chinos, T-shirts, denim, collared shirts, or a peacoat, or even a cotton women’s dress. While everyone has gotten more comfortable with sweatpants and hoodies, it would be nice if Kanye could fill in what Gap is currently missing, which is wardrobe basics that feel cool, but in a subtle way that’s less directional than his Yeezy line. Pieces that anyone could throw on and immediately feel more stylish. —Aria Hughes
