With the unveiling of the inaugural edition of Jordan Brand’s Global Women’s Collective program, 33 women in multiple cities around the world have been chosen to participate in what’s being billed as a re-establishing of what the iconic Jumpman logo represents.

The collective members come from cities including Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Paris, Shanghai, and London. With their selection, participants were given access to a six-month program spanning everything from retreat-style events to special panels. Once the six-month period comes to a close, per a press release, Jordan Brand’s relationship with the inaugural class of Global Women’s Collective members will continue in various capacities.

Photographer Dana Scruggs was enlisted to capture members in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. In comments shared with Complex, Scruggs—who last year captured a particularly memorable image of Denzel Washington for The New York Times—reflected on the idea of legacy and the immediate personal impact of her work with Global Women’s Collective members.

“Connecting with the women from the Chicago group was the most memorable moment for me,” Scruggs, who said she hopes her work inspires others to either “begin or continue” work on their own creative legacies, said. “Being with them felt like home. One of the women and I went to the same high school, several of the women were from the Southside—which is where I grew up—and all of us felt that special pride of when you meet other people from Chicago who are doing incredible and impactful things with their lives that extend outside the boundaries of our hometown. We know, firsthand, how hard that is to do and we had so much admiration for each other for it.”
