Biggest Style Drops at ComplexLand 3.0

Complex has partnered with streetwear legend NIGO® for an exclusive capsule collection debuting at ComplexLand 3.0. T-shirts, hoodies, and a tote bag will all be up for grabs. Each features new graphics designed by NIGO® exclusively for Complex, a Maneki-Neko to bring good luck and fortune with “Complex” written in red across its stomach and a new Complex logo inspired by “Edomoji,” a traditional lettering style used in Sumo wrestling and seen on traditional Japanese signs and clothing.

Complex continues to celebrate up-and-coming brands we think are worth knowing about with its annual Brands to Watch space. This year, we are highlighting four brands: Jourdan Ash’s True to Us, Aaron Maldonado’s Brigade, Saeed Ferguson’s ALL CAPS STUDIO, and Terrill Kirk and Tyrell Oliver’s The Crate. Each brand will be offering its own assortment of special edition products such as trucker caps, hoodies, and more.

Corey Populous takes inspiration from America’s pastime for his latest collection. T-shirts and hoodies act as the canvas for Circulate script logos and drawings of baseball players. The illustrations of pitchers and hitters seen throughout the release are a nod to the work of legendary illustrator Jack Davis that was prevalent throughout advertisements, comic strips, magazine covers, and more throughout the 20th century. Brown and royal blue “C” logo caps with “Circulate vs. ComplexLand” side patches complete the capsule. Circulate’s drop will be part of the UPS Neighborhood, which will also be home to special releases from brands like Brands to Watch alumni Brownstone and Los Angeles home decor brand Cölle.

Founder Mamadou Bah is giving fans another chance to cop pieces from C’est Bon’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection at ComplexLand. Logo hoodies and sweatpants will be available in bright colors like orange, blue, sage green, and pistachio. There will also be an array of graphic T-shirts bearing images like a star-shaped C’est Bon logo and high school yearbook superlatives such as “Best Dressed” and “Most Creative.” Some of the standouts from the brand’s latest season are the cut and sew offerings that include cropped brown work jackets, fuzzy cardigans, and nylon pants with giant zip pockets on each thigh.

Warren Cochrane’s Bloomfield.Works is paying homage to iconic Black musicians with its new drop for ComplexLand 3.0. A black and pink long sleeve T-shirt nods to Chicago house music pioneer Frankie Knuckles, while a cream-colored T-shirt and matching sweat shorts act as a tribute to the “Queen of Hearts” Sade. The brand will also be restocking some popular designs from is archive including a trio of arc logo T-shirts representing legendary artists Gil Scott-Heron, Nina Simone, and Miles Davis. A percentage of net profits will be donated to the Black Arts Future Fund.

This year’s ComplexLand Gift Shop is focused on artists and collaboration. A limited number of copies of All Gone 2021 signed by La MJC will be up for grabs. The shop will also be stocking an assortment of T-shirts from 4WORTHDOING. Each features a special note on the chest from creators like IRAK’s Kunle Martins and New York Nico. Proceeds from these designs will benefit the The Lower East Side Girls Club of NYC.

Los Angeles-based brand Supervsn has created a brand new capsule collection exclusively for ComplexLand. Shorts, crewnecks, T-shirts, and trucker caps featuring various Supervsn branding will be for sale. Some of the standouts include a pair of kelly green shorts with an an astronaut on the left thigh and a white T-shirt with the phrase “How You Gon’ Win When You Ain’t Right Within?” printed in blocky green letters on the back beside some Eric Carle-esque illustrations of caterpillars and butterflies.

Rip N Repair has collaborated with Philadelphia boutique Ps & Qs for a handful of designs inspired by their Vietnamese upbringing. The “Du Ma Nails” T-shirts repurpose the Southern Vietnamese word “Đụ má,” which translates to “fuck.” The nail salon-inspired graphics are a nod to the small businesses that many Vietnamese parents owned and worked at to provide for their families. The collaboration is meant to authentically highlight the importance of the nail salon, while noting some of the vulgar conversations that took place there.

The legendary retailer will be selling a handful of past collaborations at its ComplexLand 3.0 booth. Shoppers will be able to shop restocks of its Asics Gel-Lyte III collaboration inspired by the New York City subway system, Cole Haan ØriginalGrands covered in various animal prints that nod to one of the shop’s most celebrated Nike collaborations from year’s past, Medicom Be@rbricks, and more.

No Vacancy Inn is reintroducing itself with a brand new logo at ComplexLand later this week. The bubble-lettered sphere can be been stamped on matching yellow hoodies and sweatpants with dye treatments applied to a single sleeve or pant leg. The hand-dyed technique used to create each item ensures that no two hoodies or pairs of sweats are exactly the same.

Round Two is going to be releasing some exclusive items inspired by popular snack foods. A blue pocket T-shirt features paint splatters across the front and back with a graphic of a bag of onion rings on the chest. The other T-shirt has been given a sunwashed treatment that has resulted in a red gradient effect. A bag of R2 cheese puffs is stamped on the chest in puff print. The third exclusive drop is a pair of paneled red, blue, and green Avalanche cargo pants with white Round Two logos running down the back right leg.

Vandy will be re-releasing its Kakigōri shoes at its ComplexLand 3.0 virtual booth. As the nickname suggests, the colorway is inspired by a Japanese shaved ice dessert similar to a snow cone. A white leather upper is accented by baby blue patent leather overlays, red logo on each side panel, and Vandy’s branding on each tongue tag and heel tab. Attendees will also be able to customize their ComplexLand avatars with Vandy’s burger shoe.

Vinyl toy brand Superplastic will have a wide variety of figures to choose from at its ComplexLand booth. Multiple colorways of the 15-inch, spray paint can-inspired UberKranky figure made in collaboration with LA-based artist Sket One will be available. There will also be the smaller 8-inch companion, the SuperKranky. Rounding out the Kranky assortment is a 3.5-inch blind box that houses one of 14 collaborative figures. Superplastic will also be debuting its newest figure, the Shu Dog, a sneakerhead-inspired villain with cement print-esque detailing.

Bristol Studio will be releasing its Core Short in four new colorways: red, yellow, beige, and purple. There will also be various colors of the Home Team crewneck being sold: pastel orange, lavender, grey, and sky blue. The items are meant to celebrate the time spent playing in the AAU basketball circuit as a child. Each piece is completed with minimal Bristol Studio branding.

Market will also be having a strong presence at ComplexLand 3.0 later this week. Its booth will be highlighted by the debut of the limited Lux Skelly T-shirt. The design features a skeletal rib cage printed on the front that is filled in with a bootleg Gucci monogram print. Market will also be restocking some of its past collaborations with The Rolling Stones and Dennis Rodman.

Chris Pyrate has collaborated with streetwear OG X-Large. The painter’s signature floral designs are fused with X-Large’s iconic gorilla and script logos on T-shirts, shorts, bucket hats, and skate decks. Black and blue colorways of each item will both be sold.

Emotionally Unavailable is releasing another collaboration inspired by a hit Netflix series. This time, the brand has decided to create a handful of designs based on the world of Ozark. T-shirts, hoodies, and hats will all be for sale. Some feature minimal graphics like a co-branded Ozark logo across the chest, while others show off postcard-inspired imagery that reads “Emotionally Unavailable in the Ozarks.”
