CLOT, the revered streetwear brand founded by Canadian-born Hong Kong actor Edison Chen, has teamed up with Timberland for the first time ever to unleash an Eastern culture-inspired capsule centred around China’s traditional dragon.

Highlights from the debut collaboration include Timberland’s 3-Eye Lug Handsewn boat shoe. Arriving in “Black” and “Wheat” colourways, the shoe has been reworked with an uptilted toe, reminiscent of a growling dragon’s head. Covered in eco-innovative materials, each iteration features uppers made with Better Leather and Chinese folk silk embroidery expressing the form and flames of the dragon.

This boat shoe is accompanied by a capsule of workwear-inspired apparel which blends CLOT’s East-meets-West narrative with Timberland’s New England work and outdoor heritage. Constructed from recycled materials including 100% organically grown cotton and 100% recycled cotton, the collaborative apparel offering includes a pair of embroidered Duck Canvas workwear pants and a matching Chore Jacket as well as tees and oversized hoodie.

Speaking on the collaboration, CLOT Founder and Creative Director Edison Chen, said: “Dragon motifs have always shown up in our designs. It’s mystical, it demands power, and it’s very representative of Chinese culture. The embroidery is very much an ode to hand-stitch culture back in the day, and abstractly also tattoo culture, because it seems to have translated into Chinese tattoos where dragons and all those old motifs are showing up on people’s tattoo artworks.”

“Every step of this design partnership with CLOT has been amazing,” said Chris McGrath, Vice President, Global Footwear Design & Development for Timberland. “To bring the essence of our two brands to life in a collection that is both authentic and progressive was a true creative adventure.”
