After kicking off a successful, first CONS project in Brooklyn earlier this year, Converse recently made its way to California to host CON Project: Los Angeles, part of a global initiative launched to inspire the next generation of creative minds. This time, Converse offered the area's youths six free workshops including "How To Create a Mural," connecting them with L.A.-born and bred Tofer Chin, who was commissioned to guide them through the workshop.

Known for his geometric paintings and vivid sculptural installations, Chin instructed a group of students from Hollywood High School on how to create a mural. Together, Chin and the students completed a black, red, and white number entitled FOUR. Similar to his last projects in L.A. and San Francisco, his latest work features four geometric plateaus and a vivid, contrasting color scheme.

Working on the mural with the students from Hollywood High had Chin reminiscing about his own days in school. The artist also spoke on the importance of aspiring artists having the opportunity to learn from creative role models and mentors.

“I never had the opportunity to work one-on-one with an artist that I looked up to [...] until college. The CONS Project is an invaluable platform for our youth to be able to work on the same level side by side with creative professionals that will hopefully help motivate, inspire and guide them in the most positive direction forward.”
