This $27 Million Mansion in NYC Comes With a Golden Couch and Priceless Art

Once upon a time, this five-story mansion at 132 East 62nd Street in New York sold for $14 million after the owner spent two years renovating the place. Not a bad profit, right? Now the home is back on the market, and it's going for a whopping $27 million, which is double the price.

The current owner, apparently an accomplished designer with a fat wallet, spent an additional three years fixing up the Upper East Side townhouse. Though no remodeling is worth $27 million, the mansion now comes with some priceless furnishings such as artwork by the likes of Anish Kapoor, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Piet Mondrian, along with books signed by Truman Capote, Joan Didion, a gold-plated couch, and other lavish home goods we'd killed to see in our own humble abodes.

Nonetheless, whether or not the place is worth $27 million even for those who've got the money is a fair question. With all the famous artwork that comes with this crib, is it a steal or utter thievery?
