With some help from her Oscar-nominated friends, Ellen DeGeneres blew up the Internet with a star-studded selfie back in March. Within a matter of seconds, the image became the most retweeted tweet in Twitter's 8-year history, just as the Oscar host had intended. Not only that, but amateur and established artists alike have re-created the beloved selfie. In fact, there is even a painting of Ellen and the gang currently hanging inside the Twitter headquarters.
Those at social media company decided to go über meta on us, showing off Debbie Faas' re-creation of the selfie. Just yesterday, an employee at Twitter tweeted the following:
Hey, @TheEllenShow! We painted a picture of you at Twitter HQ. Come take a #selfie with us! @LizFiandaca @genaweave pic.twitter.com/ORCcDiGA2F
Apparently, the original photo alone is worth a whopping $1 billion. Imagine all the Basquiat paintings and Companion statues you could buy with that money.
