I've never tried to smuggle anything, but I've definitely used codewords before. My friends and I had all these different ridiculous names for weed—"route," "chief," etc.—as most high schoolers tend to do. But The New York Post reports today that a gun smuggling operation that brought firearms from Ohio into The Bronx was busted after authorities cracked coded messages on Facebook.

The load of 50 guns smuggled in were sold to undercover investigators and the three men responsible were arrested yesterday. The smugglers' code didn't quite reach The Imitation Game levels of sophistication, but actually used sneaker terms to communicate, saying things like, "Size 9. I got four pairs of air jays bro," referring to Air Jordans, which authorities believed to mean four 9mm handguns. Listen, I'm not trying to downplay the solid police work exhibited in busting these guys, but, like, nobody calls them "Air Jays," so, ultimately, this was pretty fucking obvious to be honest.
