For some strange reason, fashion just loves it some ugly shoes. But you also wouldn't put it past the general public to have terrible taste—albeit a completely different kind of terrible—in shoes either, which is partly why Camper has become a cult success amongst footwear brands. According to Fast Companythe Spanish footwear brand has owned its space in the game with its weird, wonky and wild designs, which is exactly why the Design Museum of London has an exhibit solely dedicated to Camper's iconic, ugly ass shoes.

I'm mostly aware of Camper because of their Gosha Rubchinskiy collaborations (seen above) and the episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm when Larry loses his shoes at the bowling alley. Curb specifically takes on the signature bubble sole that Camper has co-opted. Due to the brands family-owned operations, it's more open to interesting collaborations and projects than others might be, allowing new talent to break into the business with creative freedom. The brand also experiments a lot with materials, production and variations—its most popular shoe has more than 100 different versions available with unique details that vary from laces to stitching. It's almost like not every sneaker company has to make the exact same fucking sneaker to find a dedicated customer base.
