Copenhagen-based imprint Samsøe Samsøe has unveiled its upcoming Spring/Summer 2022 collection, entitled Chasing The Sun.
Launched in 1993, Samsøe Samsøe is a Danish clothing brand, offering a selection of versatile and contemporary capsule pieces with softly tailored separates and signature styles.
The brand is known for its wearable aesthetic that combines the utilitarian ease of Copenhagen street style with a quintessentially Scandinavian spirit, as well as its use of premium fabrics, functional, playful details, and tailored finishes which are used to create iconic silhouettes.
For SS22, Samsøe Samsøe looked to retro-inspired styling—from the ‘70s and ‘80s—to deliver a collection that is fuelled by contemporary prints, nostalgic patterns, and updated jacquards.
Shirts, knitted garments, overshirts and wide-legged pants arrive doused in ‘70s-inspired prints and colourways, while sun-bleached shades add to the collection’s road-trippy feel. Elsewhere, tailored suiting in wool and structured twill are added to the mix to create more formal looks and offer classic ‘80s vibes.
“The collection, for me, is all about explorations, travels, and freedom,” explains Gitte Wetter, Samsøe Samsøe’s Head of Design. “The freedom we’ve all missed the past year, and the travels we will be able to do again so soon. The new relationships we will gain, and the chasing of newness we’ve all longed for. I really wanted to bring across the sense of positivity and the yearning for summer, and with the colours and silhouettes of this collection, I believe we achieved that.”
The SS22 collection features almost 81% more responsibly-sourced materials, as the brand moves one step closer to achieving its 2024 goal of using 100% responsible materials across all collections.
