Paris-based GIF artist Anne Horel has combined two of our favorite things: art history and emojis. In a set of hilarious art Vines, she brings together the highest of high art and the lowest of low visual graphics. The result is awesome plays on famous paintings.
Horel's favorite emoji seems to be the pepperoni pizza, which she uses to censor Gustave Courbet's Origin of the World and Henri Matisse's The Dance. The cheesy slice also makes an appearance in Michelangelo's Creation of Adam and Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper.
In addition to her art history adaptations, Horel is also behind a slew of psychedelic GIFs inspired by early computer graphics, which appear on her website, along with collages, videos, and other web art.
