Turns out guys are just as scared of aging as women are. And they’re resorting to Botox injections in an effort to fight it.
In a recent GQ article, reporter Josh Dean investigates the growing trend of Botox use among males—a trend that is fittingly dubbed “Bro-Tox.” Apparently, many men feel as though they have to keep up with their female counterparts when it comes to youthful looks, and are just recently feeling comfortable enough to seek cosmetic procedures to do so.
"What I'm seeing more now is, like, a straight stockbroker who just wants to look good," says Dr. Michael Eidelman, whose client list is 40 percent men. "These people would never have come in before. They're taking care of their bodies, and they know it's not a big deal."
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the number of dudes who have sought out Botox treatment has increased 310 percent since 2000, so it’s definitely a full-fledged movement. Other non-invasive procedures—fillers, laser treatments, and teeth-whitening—have also experienced a similar boom among males, proving that they have just as many hangups as women have. So stop pretending like you don’t give a damn about your body and appearance, guys, because the stats indicate you likely do.
And if you're scared your decision to get Botox will attract crazy shit-talking, just tell the haters you're using it to aid your depression. Or premature ejaculation.
