Kith x BMW Chapter 2 Collaboration

Kith and BMW are back for Chapter II.

Two years after releasing a vamped M4 Competition Coupe, the companies reconnected for a limited edition of the 2022 i4 M50. The collaborative design will be limited to just seven models, one of which will be put up for auction at the end of next week, coinciding with the 50th anniversary celebration of the BMW M division.

The i4 M50—BMW’s first fully electric M model—is locally emission-free and has a reported range of up to 323 miles. The Kith edition is upgraded with special features and details, including the M sports brakes with red brake calipers, the Professional and Plus driving assistant, a camel leather interior, and a custom paint job in Vitality Green—a color that was specifically developed for the partnership.

The Kith 14 M50 auction will begin at 11 a.m. ET on Oct. 7, and conclude 2 p.m. ET on Oct. 14. The bidding will start at $1 at the Sotheby’s website. In addition to the special edition car, the winner will receive every design from the Kith for BMW 2022 collection. The 51-piece collection features apparel and accessories, such as Italian leather and Manteco wool outerwear, coaches jackets, fleece sweats, graphic tees, keychains, and canteens. The winner will also get one-of-one products that won’t be available to the public. These include a co-branded surfboard, snowboard, and a collaborative Wilson Pro Staff 97 Racquet.

Ten percent of the auction’s proceeds will go toward the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust, which is committed to protecting the ecosystems and biodiversity of East Africa. The Kith x BMW collection hit the Kith Paris store on Friday, and will received a global launch at 11 a.m. ET on Oct. 7.

As part of the collaboration, BMW worked with Kith’s Ronnie Feig to upgrade his personal 1602 Elektro. The one-of-a-kind car was converted into fully electric vehicle that was adorned with custom details, like a merino leather interior with a Kith monogram pattern, Kith woodmarks, and a Vitality Green paint job.

“As I began conversations with BMW on Chapter II, I dug deep with their story of their first electric concept car,” Feig wrote on Instagram. “In 1972, BMW celebrated the Olympic Games in Munich by debuting a 1602 that was converted into an electric car. The concept was for the battery to go the same distance as the Olympic marathon. I loved that story and it really made me appreciate the 1602 more than I already have, so that became the anchor concept for Chapter II.”
