New York Comic Con 2014 has begun, and the hoards of nerds (like ourselves) have been flooding into the Javits Center in Manhattan to see celebrities, get autographs, and show off the costumes they spent four months making. Another big part of the convention is buying comics, collectibles, prints, and other stuff from your favorite artists, writers, shows, and movies, but in the immortal words of Meek Mill: it's levels to this shit. There are the $5 buttons and plush toys that the amateurs buy, and then there are the big ticket items that will cost you a little extra.

DIGG compiled a list of the most expensive items they could find at NYCC booths on opening day. Included in the list is original artwork by R. Crumb, original Spider-Man art by Steve Ditko, copies of Gobbledygook #1 and Gobbledygook #2 (aka the books that made the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles possible), and a very impressive copy of Action Comics #1 with a CGC grade of 9.0 (CGC is the company that grades the condition of comics from 1-10).

These pieces may be out of your price range, but they are still awesome to look at, and there are probably a million other things that you can actually afford at New York Comic Con. The convention started on Oct. 9 and will run through Oct. 12, so you should find a way to get inside.
