In 1993, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Christian Boltanski, and Bertrand Lavier conceived of an "open-ended art exhibition" comprised of artists' instructions, taking inspiration from Marcel Duchamp's text-based wedding gift to his sister Suzanne in 1919. The "Do It" exhibition has now had over 50 different variations and will open soon at Moscow's Garage Museum of Contemporary Art.
The video below was made as a companion piece to the exhibition and features narration by comedian Reggie Watts. Watts gives a brief art history lesson (from Duchamp, to Yoko Ono, to Obrist) and explains what the exhibition is and how to "Do It."
