Palace is the latest streetwear brand to pair up with a luxury design house, after mysteriously announcing its collaboration with Polo Ralph Lauren on Thursday via billboards in Tokyo. Now the founders have coolly addressed the collaboration with Business of Fashion before the collection drops, which could be any day now.

“That tells you everything you need to know right there,” Palace founder Lev Tanju told BOF, referring to the three navy and white billboards that appeared in Tokyo’s Shibuya district last week. On them, Palace’s logo sits under Polo’s iconic pony.

The Palace x Polo Ralph Lauren collection is slated to be a menswear drop that includes pants, tops, outerwear, and accessories that feature both brand labels. Of course, this collab wouldn’t be complete without a few button downs and some classic Polo Oxfords. Items will fall in line with Palace’s typical pricing, and are inspired by the versatility of the luxury brand. “It’s the only brand that you can wear to a board meeting, a funeral and go to the football in — and all in the same day,” Skewis said.

This collaboration follows those like Supreme's iconic union with Louis Vuitton, but a connection between Polo and NYC streetwear already exists, thanks to the members of the Lo-Life Crew and their dedication to the brand in the late ‘80s and ‘90s. “Collaborations — it’s what people do now, it’s like seasons,” Skewis said. “For me and Lev, this is a massive moment for us and a real pinnacle.”

Still, this drop will likely connect Polo to a new pool of young and loyal buyers, while also pushing Palace further into the spotlight. “We don’t want to rest on our laurels and do boring stuff; we want to keep it fun and exciting,” explained Tanju.

There’s no release date set for the Palace x Polo Ralph Lauren collaboration, but it will reportedly drop “imminently,” so keep your eyes peeled.
