Virgil Abloh and Kanye Share Emotional Moment at Louis Vuitton Show

As Ye's Cudi-featuring "Ghost Town" got a live instrumental rendition at the end of the show, Virgil walked straight out to Kanye for a long hug that clearly had both men emotional.

On Thursday, Virgil Abloh debuted his first-ever Louis Vuitton collection since being named the fashion house's artistic director of men's wear in March.

This show was a monumental event moment for Paris Fashion Week and fashion in general, with all eyes on the 37-year-old who is the first black artistic director for Louis Vuitton in the brand’s entire 164 years. Abloh has come a long way from interning at Fendi with his longtime creative collaborator and close friend Kanye. As Ye's Cudi-featuring "Ghost Town" got a live instrumental rendition at the end of the show, Virgil walked straight out to Kanye for a long hug that clearly had both men emotional. In the video below you can see the two friends embracing and crying.

Before taking this position at LV, Virgil was mostly known for his work at Donda Creative, Off-White, and his collaborations with Kanye. There were murmurs that his appointment to the fashion house would upset Kanye or spark some kind of jealousy, but in a May interview with Charlamagne Tha God, West said there were no hard feelings. Judging by this emotional embrace at his debut show, Kanye wasn't lying.

“There is some validation in the fact that someone that I came up with is now the head at Louis Vuitton,” Kanye said in May, before clarifying that Virgil’s role is for LV’s menswear. "The breakthrough with Virgil is now we have someone who's come from DONDA, who's come from the school of Kanye West ... Some people have to do things just to prove that they can be done, whether they become the billionaire on the other side of it. Obama went into that office as a public servant in a service position. It didn't matter the amount of money or ownership; the world needed to see that this is a possibility. For Virgil, it's like, the world just needs to see things.”

Kim, Kylie Jenner, and Travis Scott also sat front row for the show. Travis shared a video from his own angle of the emotional embrace.

Kanye went on to tweet the moment as well:
