Last fall, the Weeknd and Marvel announced they were teaming up on a comic book series inspired by the singer’s studio album Starboy. And now, just weeks away before the comic’s debut, Weeknd has blessed fans with limited edition capsule collection in support of the collaborative project.
The seven-piece range consists of tees, long-sleeve crewnecks, hoodies, a coaches jacket, as well as a hat. The designs feature XO and Marvel co-branding, as well as bold graphics depicting the comic’s main characters: Starboy, the hounds, as well as the story’s cannibalistic protagonist Jack “The Chef” Smiley.
You can check out the XO x Marvel collection, titled Vol. 1 Issue 1, in the lookbook images below. The range is available today through Monday (for 96 hours) at the Weeknd's online store. This drop also marks Bravado’s first with Marvel, with plans to work on more collaborations this year.
The inaugural issue of The Weeknd Presents: Starboy is scheduled to arrive June 13.
The artist spoke about his intention to create a Starboy comic during a 2016 interview with Zane Lowe.
“Starboy is the next chapter in this chronicle, this saga. I guess this is the fourth chapter. He's a character that we created,” he said. “It's so funny, we want to create a comic out of him as well [...] He's a cool, dope character that makes appearances a lot on the album. He's definitely made his appearance in different records in the past as well. He's a more braggadocious character that we all have inside of us.”
