After years of being one of the best online menswear retailers around, today Mr Porter is finally launching its own label, called Mr P.
Mr P. will offer basics year round, as well as host five limited edition capsules throughout the year that are more specific to current trends and seasonal offerings. The core aspect of the brand will be menswear essentials with the capsules serving as complimentary pieces inspired by style icons of the past and present.
"Since our launch over six years ago, we have been able to understand our customer’s buying habits and patterns, observing what they read, buy and even post on social media," says Mr Porter Style Director Olie Arnold, who worked closely with the site's style team to create Mr P. "Using this knowledge, Mr P. is ultimately the result; a new, well-fitted, interestingly-balanced brand where quality is inherent in each piece and the Mr Porter DNA is reflected throughout."
Mr P is meant to be a clothing label that Mr Porter's clientele can connect with, that they'll want to wear, and that they'll be able to afford. In an effort to achieve this, Mr Porter referenced the lives of artists, chefs, architects, and writers to tailor wardrobes that cater to the way "real men want to dress."
The 55-piece debut collection was inspired by 20th century British painter Lucian Freud. It includes various ready-to-wear pieces, such as hearling-collared leather jackets, tweed trench coats, and water resistant blazers, as well as everyday basics, like solid-colored T-shirts, cable knit sweaters, hoodies, and oxfords.
Mr P.'s inaugural collection will be releasing in two waves. The first wave will be available starting today at mrporter.com. The remaining 23 pieces will be available on Nov. 14. Prices range from $65-$1,120.
