On Thursday (8th June 2017), Zalando hosted a preview event for ‘Bread & Butter’ the second festival of style and culture - unveiling the future of fashion and music. With the motto of this year's festival being ‘BOLD’, Jefferson Hack founder of Dazed Media hosted the discussions to investigate this further.
Carsten Hendrich of Zalando spoke on the current global climate and the need for giving the stage to new ideas and fearless opinions. With no better guest than Dame Vivienne Westwood being invited to the stage to explore this further. From pioneering the punk era to her current involvement with social activism, Westwood continues to challenge the status quo.
Later in the evening the concept of ‘BOLD’ was debated amongst a panel of creative's that are disrupting and changing the cultural landscape. Including the likes of artist/Palace collaborator Fergus Purcell, activist/model Abwoa Aboah and designer/creative director of G-Star RAW Aitor Throup. The board touched on topics from gender to self-expression and the balance of social media.
Following the discussions, the after party kicked off with a live performance from Awful Music’s first lady Abra and futuristic lighting projections.
Bread & Butter by Zalando takes place in Kreuzberg, Berlin from 1st-3rd September. Until then stand for something and stay BOLD.
