On the occasion of Yohji Yamamoto presenting his S/S 16 womenswear collection, i-D caught up with the man himself to talk some shop. Yohji waxes on how fast fashion has ruined everything since he got into the game a long time ago and that people's wasteful tendencies are no good. He even implores us to chill out, saying that the earthy is angry:

The earth is becoming warmer. She is angry. We should really think about how to better manage our industry. I am not an environmentalist, but for some time I have felt very strongly that the earth is angry. We need everyone to calm down. Do not rush. It's tiring -- those people who always want more. Money is a boring thing, don't you think? Something that is meant to bring comfort is making people uncomfortable.

If you're worried about our planet too, that's a strong sentiment. But the bigger news here is that Yohji wants his brand to die with him though it doesn't seem like that's based on the belief that someone can't continue his legacy, but more because he thinks retirement will be boring: "I can not imagine myself retired. It must be so boring. I also think it's hard to imagine my brand without me. I think Yohji Yamamoto will die with Yohji Yamamoto."

Here's the thing, Yohji is 72-years-old and in just about every video you see of him, he's sucking down mad cigs. So while I don't think we've heard any bad health reports about homie—and this is gonna sounds super fucking morbid, I know—that fateful day might come sooner than we'd all really like it to. Godspeed, Yohji. Hopefully you live forever or at least until you're, like, 120, okay? Fingers crossed.
